In 2004, Joe Fluet traded his courthouse business attire for combat battle dress. Leaving his job as a lawyer at a top tier Washington DC law firm, Joe deployed to Afghanistan with a unique mission: build an Afghan Air Force.

During his year training and advising Afghan pilots, Joe saw how military aviation and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) provided real time, real world situational awareness to both U.S. and Afghan forces, saving lives and time and resources. In a tent in Afghanistan, Joe decided to someday build a a company that provided that same real time, real world awareness to customers around the world. That same year, Joe met France Hoang, Ernie Clemente, and Joe Paull … the future founding MAG team.

In late 2009 Joe Fluet, the son of two successful entrepreneurs, founded MAG as an Aviation and ISR company. MAG’s rapid growth allowed Joe to recruit and hire a roster of “double-barreled” team members who shared his vision, professionals with proven operational experience combined with business acumen honed at some of most well-respected aerospace companies in the world.

Five years later (and almost exactly ten years since Joe’s initial vision), MAG has grown to almost 200 employees and annual revenue in excess of $50 million. MAG delivers and enables real time, real world situational awareness 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to federal, international, and commercial customers on four continents. Driven by relentless dedication to operational excellence and guided by a common set of core values, MAG’s employees have amassed an unmatched record of operational success in some of the most difficult environments in the world. As a result, MAG has attracted outstanding teammates and partners, including The Clairvest Group, a private equity firm that made a minority investment in MAG in 2013.

2014 has been MAG’s most successful year to date, with 100% growth in the last 12 months. As MAG looks forward to the future, Joe Fluet, MAG’s CEO and Chairman of the Board, reflects on how far it’s come: “It’s been an amazing ride. I often reflect on how blessed we are to be able to provide our unique services on four continents. Whether we’re intercepting illicit narcotics, delivering vital supplies after a natural disaster, or monitoring deforestation with unmanned aircraft, every day the world is little smaller and safer because of MAG. We could not ask for a better legacy.”
