Born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, and raised in Ontario Quebec and Birkenhead, England, Lt. Gen Day joined the Canadian Forces in 1983 and trained as an Infantry Officer before joining the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Regiment. He has commanded at every level and rank, in a variety of units, and deployments around the globe.

With the majority of his field and command time as an Operator within Canada’s Counter Terrorist and Special Forces collective, Lt. Gen. Day commanded the Joint Task Force Two (JTF2), and Canada’s Special Operations Forces Command along with a range of other assignments in a commanding positions. He’s further served as the Canadian Armed Forces Senior Military Officer in the Defense Policy Group, and the Chief Strategic Planner for the future of the Canadian Armed Forces, demonstrating his aptitude for Senior Staff appointments.

Lt. Gen Day has deployed operationally to Africa, the Balkans (3 times), the Middle East, and Afghanistan (twice). Additionally, he has lived in Naples Italy where he was responsible for the preparation, training and oversight of NATO’s Response Force.

Throughout his military career, Lt. Gen. Day has earned significant honors and awards, including but not limited to the US Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Cross and the US Operations Command Medal, being one of only 55 ever presented.

He recently completed the Queen’s Executive Advance Management Program and also hold a degree in Political Studies (with distinction) from the University of Manitoba and a Masters of Arts in War Studies, from the Royal Military College of Canada, where he focused on International Relations and Special Operations.
